Morgan discovered that basketball was highly violent to play, so he devised a new game. Before the International Volleyball Federation was formed, it was part of the International Amateur Handball Federation.
History of volleyball:
Morgan developed the concept of volleyball in 1895. In Holyoke, Massachusetts, he is the physical director of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA). He discovered that basketball was extremely violent, so he introduced a new game. Volleyball was played in colleges and armed forces, slowly spreading to all countries.
Morgan called “Mintonette” his new game because it resembles badminton. However, this name didn’t last long. In 1896, while exemplifying his new game, it was noted that the movement of sending the ball back and forth over the net looked like a “volley.” Based on the facts, the game is renamed “VolleyBall.”

Rules of volleyball:
William G. Morgan formed the rules of the volleyball game. He tried each thing in the game and the frame rules. His rules were released in the July 1896 issue of “Physical Education,” They were included in the 1897 edition of the North American YMCA Athletic League’s first authorized guidebook. These rules were slightly changed and are followed now.
The net should be at the height of about 6 feet, 6 inches (1.98 meters) from the ground. They first used the basketball, but it was too heavy to play. So the ball is specially designed for the game, which weighs around nine and not more than 12 ounces. He also stated that the game could be played both indoors and outdoor.
Six players are allowed to play the game. The ball should be passed through your hands and should not touch any parts of your body. There are no approved break sessions in traditional or beach volleyball. It is because volleyball players play in frames determined by the score rather than time or length. In volleyball matches, a team must win at least two of three matches. The game will probably last for one hour.
