Pima County on Alert as Thunderstorm Warning Takes Effect

Rainfall in Phoenix: Isolated showers seen in parts of the Valley today.

Storms in North Phoenix before noon; Tempe and Scottsdale also experienced a brief isolated storm with less than one-tenth of an inch of rain in some areas. 

Rain chances set to increase throughout the day, with the National Weather Service predicting strong to severe thunderstorms in south-central Arizona this afternoon and evening. 

Rain chances begin at 20% in the morning, rising to 40% by night. Phoenix has a 70% chance of showers on Friday and a 40% chance on Saturday. 

Caution advised: Damaging winds and blowing dust could be a concern later in the day on Thursday, and there is a risk of flash flooding on Friday. 

Temperatures expected to fall below normal by the end of the week. 

Looking ahead, the National Weather Service anticipates drier and warmer conditions to return for the start of next week.
